Hello Everyone, I, David Harkema, O.D., am the Optometrist and Owner of Sparta Optometry. I am a lifetime resident of Kent County and dearly love this community. A little about me, I graduated from Hope College in 1988 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. I received my Doctorate in Optometry from Ferris State University in 1992, graduating Summa Cum Laude. After college, I started at an Optometry office in Grandville, working there for 2 years and then found a position at Retail Optical World. I worked there for 3 years before landing at Sparta Optometry in 2003 working alongside Dr. Jay Dean who started the practice in 1951. In 2005 I purchased Sparta Optometry and Dr. Dean retired. The office has been involved in optometry mission trips overseas helping families in need and I cannot wait until we can do that again. Outside of the office, I spend my time with my wife, two daughters and two dogs. When the weather is nice you can find me on the golf course or tending to my hobbie farm/garden.

Ky Snider - Optical Manager
Aloha, my name is Kylee but everyone calls me Ky. I am the Optical Manager and I assist throughout the entire office. I am a United States Navy Veteran and have 10+ years of experience in management/administration. I've been in the optical industry for 4 years now and I absolutely love it. Plus, I have the honor of working with such hardworking co-workers who I deeply adore and an extraordinary boss! Outside of work, I entertain a lot of different hobbies, and I'm very family oriented.
Krista Osbon - Optician
Hello, I'm Krista Osbon. I am the Optician here at Sparta Optometry. I have been working at this office for a little over 2 years and counting! I've been in optometry since 2015. I thoroughly love my job and the talented people I am blessed to work with. I especially love helping patients with all of their glasses needs. My free time is filled with family, friends and soaking up quality time with my 4-year-old son, Braxton.
Sarah Dekkers - Contact Lens Specialist/ Insurance Billing Expert
Hi, my name is Sarah Dekkers. I am the Contact Lens Specialist and Insurance Billing Expert for Sparta Optometry. I also cover the front desk. I have not been working in eye care for long, but I have found a deep passion for it. I cherish my job and love being a part of such an incredible team. In my spare time, I manage my own photography business, and I enjoy camping/going on adventures with my family.
